World Gardening

The Sparkleberry Circle supports World Gardening every year with a donation.

NGC has partnered with Global Partners Running Waters Inc., a nonprofit organization working in cooperation with the United Nations, to increase access to safe water  in Latin America. 1.1 billion people around the world currently get their water from rivers, ponds or other sources subject to contamination.

The World Gardening Program was originated by National Garden Clubs, Inc. in 1947 as "Seeds of Peace." Helping people help themselves is the key element of the World Gardening Program. Money is used to educate and provide the necessary seeds and tools.

Funds collected for the "Natural Disasters" World Gardening project is used to alleviate suffering caused by such natural disasters as flood, hurricane, and the-like, both in the United States and abroad.

Penny Pines Program

The Sparkleberry Circle supports the Penny Pines Project with donations.

Penny Pines Program is a Reforestation/Forest Education Program Sponsored by the Garden Club Members of
National Garden Clubs, Inc.
working with the USDA Forest Service and our State Foresters through out the US and territories

Our Forests are our greatest renewable asset. Through this program we hope to educate the public on the need to keep this resource growing and available for future  generations of wood and wood product users.

It takes thousands of firefighters and hundreds of pieces of specialized equipment working long hours to control these blazing infernos. Fires like these leave total destruction in their wake.

As destructive as fires are, disease and insect infestation destroy seven times more forest vegetation annually than fires because forests pests are scattered and not easily detected, so are harder to control.

In time some land may recover naturally. Penny Pines provides a helping hand. It is a conservation program in which everyone can participate.
